What to Expect

While you are at DeSoto Caverns Park for your field trip, you can always expect a friendly, knowledgeable staff to assist you. We offer free parking, ample restrooms, free admission for teachers and bus drivers during your trip, and plenty of fun while you are here! Just give us a call at 1-800-933-2283 to schedule, or fill out the date request page.

When you arrive at the park for your field trip, the group organizer should come to the Gift Shop to check in while the group is unloading (remember to collect all money in advance so payment can be made in one lump sum). The group can unload in front of the brochure building located in the parking lot.

When you check in, you will receive your group schedules. Your schedules begin 30 minutes after your scheduled arrival time to allow time for bus unloading and a restroom break.

If you have 50+ people in your group, you will be split into groups of about 50 per group. If you would, put 1 person in charge of each group to cut down on confusion. Each group will receive a schedule. For example; one group may pan while the other is at maze, and so on.

When it is time for your caverns tour, please be at the caverns entrance 5 minutes prior to the start of your tour. Tours will start promptly at your scheduled time. Please assist the guides during the tour with keeping the group quite and organized.The temperature inside the caverns is 60 degrees year round, but because of the 100% humidity, it feels closer to 70 so jackets are not necessary, however, comfortable shoes are recommended.

The Fun Pac package that we offer includes the hour long caverns tour, panning for gemstones, and the lost trail maze. This package takes 2 hours to complete. We can also schedule you a time for our Gift Shop which has souvenirs in all price ranges starting at just $.49. We also have 2 covered pavilion that are free for your use if you want to bring sack lunches.
