Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, we offer booking options outside of our regular business hours for groups. Simply call and ask if you are looking for a time outside of our regular hours.
Every hour a tour leaves outside the entrance of the caverns and each guided tour lasts just under an hour.
Your guided caverns tour lasts nearly one hour.
The temperature inside the cave is 60°F year-round. In the summer, it will be refreshingly cool, and in the winter it will be a comfortable warmer temperature. Because the entrance to our cave is a steep ramped tunnel we recommend wearing shoes with traction on the bottom, although there is a handrail for steadying yourself if your shoes are smooth on bottom.
Every Timeless Tour includes our Caverns Light show! Our show includes a lasers, sound, water, and light spectacle that is a must see! We have several different Caverns Light Shows based on seasons and holidays, so be sure to check our calendar for information on which one will take place on your tour!
Yes, we encourage the use of photography and video in the cave!
We are proud to be one of the first caves to have made accommodations to be handicap accessible, although there are a few things those with handicaps may need to know before committing to an underground adventure. We now have a tunnel instead of stairs that leads into the caverns and there are no longer any areas of the cave where stairs are used. Because of the natural environment of the cave, some areas had to be steeply ramped and will require an additional helper to navigate. Warning: For cave visitors in a wheelchair, it is required that you bring a capable assistant to help you with navigating the steep portions of the cave. There is also a narrow passage at the back of caverns that would require an individual to walk through the tall although slightly too narrow for a wheelchair to easily navigate between. In these scenarios, our guests can either use the help of their assistant to get past this portion and bring the folded wheelchair through the 15 feet then return to their chair for the back portion of the tour, or our guests can enjoy the beauty of the Healing-All Cathedral room while other guests go through the back passage and return the same way shortly later.
Yes, pets are allowed in the park as long as they remain on a leash. Inside the cave we only allow pets if you are capable of holding them throughout the tour. Because of the indoor-outdoors nature of a cave, we cannot have any animals using the restroom inside the caverns, so they must be small enough to be held through the entirety of the tour. People who bring their pets are responsible for cleaning up their pet's waste. People with pets also will be held responsible for any damage their pet creates.
It does not rain inside the cave. Although, because this cave is still growing you may experience getting dripped on occasionally. We like to call these occasional drips "cave kisses."
Yes, they are. Our cave has a tunnel and does not have any stairs throughout the tour, making it accessible for you and your young ones. The caverns has lightly packed gravel, so we recommend using a stroller that is capable of rolling over packed gravel.
  • To protect the cave and abide by the laws of the state of Alabama, a few items are not allowed in the cave. The following is a list of items that are not allowed during your stay in Majestic Caverns.
  • Food or drinks (water is allowed, but carbonated drinks and other pollutants, if spilled, damage the formations of the natural Caverns. These spills require intensive cleaning measures using ecologically approved cleaners that will not harm the caverns. Also certain foods may draw animals that do not have a natural environment within caverns and could negatively effect the ecology. So, in the best interest preserving this natural environment we do not allow these items.)
  • Weapons
  • Cigarettes, cigars or chewing tobacco. Majestic Caverns is a tobacco free environment and such items would leave a harmful residue or pollutant on the environment.
  • Chewing gum : this is another harmful pollutant to the caverns environment when not disposed of properly.
  • Alcohol or drugs
  • Pets (Although we love our pets, our caverns can only welcome pets for as long as they can be held. During overnight stays they cannot be held throughout the entirety and their urine contains harmful acids for the caverns environment. So, in the best interest of preserving the natural habitat and protecting the caverns, we must prohibit pets from being brought into the cave for an overnight stay)
  • Laser pointers
  • Wagons or similar wheeled devices where the operator has less control of the movement than with a stroller or a wheelchair. These items are more difficult to navigate down a steep ramp.
  • Weapons or fireworks (these items are prohibited by law as the use of them would damage the caverns and be considered a federal offense under the The Federal Cave Resources Protection Act of 1988)
  • Majestic Caverns reserves the right to prohibit additional items that may pose safety concerns for either the live Caverns or other guests. If you have an unlisted item you would like to bring into the cave that is not listed as approved, please contact us to request approval in advance and recognize that if approval is not given, the item may not be allowed into the caverns.
